The New York Etcher's Press, Inc. is a fine art print publishing concern in the field of intaglio founded in 2006. Its primary focus is the creation of exceptional limited edition group portfolios of etchings with New York City themes commissioned from local master printmakers. Produced at the highest level of professional attention to detail – publications of The New York Etcher’s Press will stand the ‘test of time’ and be long sought for their beauty and historical perspectives. The newest publication, released in early 2009, is A Day in Times Square, a portfolio of nine prints featuring unique and contemporary artist reflections about this enduring New York City destination. An even distribution of imagery reflecting the area’s architectural, cultural and demographic complexity offer a stunning perspective of this ever changing crossroad of the world. The New York Etcher’s Press’ third publication, A Day At the Zoo, was released in late 2007. This collection includes eight striking intaglio prints of everyday life at the Bronx Zoo in New York City. Following a six month invitational exhibition of the portfolio at the Zoo’s Visitors Center a complete set of the etchings was entered into the archives of The Wildlife Conservation Society. A Day at Coney Island, was released in 2006. This portfolio features original etchings by six different artists, with each image depicting a singular facet of the historic and endangered seaside amusement park. A copy of the entire portfolio, acquired by the Brooklyn Museum of Art, was exhibited at Wagner College during the Fall of 2006. The Intaglio Figure, 2006, includes eight remarkable renderings of the same female nude in a portfolio structured upon New York City’s late 19th Century atelier approach to rendering the figure. This portfolio of etchings which marked the debut of the press was acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of New York for its permanent collection. The New York Etcher’s Press, Inc. is affiliated with the New York Society of Etchers, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to exhibiting and documenting the intaglio printmaking activities of New York-based artists.
